Questions We Get Asked
What types of welding are offered?
Our shop runs TIG, MIG, Fuse (laser) and stick welding - the backbone processes for strong, clean joints. From fine detail work to heavy-duty fabrication, each method is chosen to match the job so the end result isn’t just welded, it’s built to last. Different applications require various types of welding rod.
What metals can be welded?
Stainless steel, aluminum, steel, brass, and copper are within our wheelhouse. Different metals call for different techniques, and our team knows how to bring them together with strength and a clean finish. We do all of our welding in house with American craftsmen and industry leading techniques.
Are both small repairs and full fabrication projects accepted?
Yes. Whether it’s patching a worn part, welding up a bracket, or laying down beads on a full-scale project, every job gets the same focus on durability and craftsmanship. There is no project too small or large for the Men of Metal. Bring us your idea and we will weld it and bring it to life.
What information is needed to provide a welding quote?
Project details matter - material type, thickness, dimensions, and the kind of weld required. A sketch, CAD or DXF file, or even photos go a long way in making sure the final product comes out right the first time. If you are not sure what you need we are here to provide guidance and ultimately bring your project to life.
What is the typical turnaround time for welding work?
Fabrication timing depends entirely on project size, quantity of pieces and complexity of welds. For smaller projects, turnaround is as quick as 1-3 days. For quantity based orders and larger volume lead time will be given with your quote. We do offer priority fabrication options depending on our current workload and availability of materials.
What are common types of welding rod?
• 6010 / 6011 → Strong penetration, good for dirty/rusty metal.
• 6013 → Easy, smooth welds, best for beginners and thinner stock.
• 7018 → Strong, low-hydrogen, industry standard for structural work.
• 7024 → Fast filler rod, thick materials, flat welds.
• 308 / 309 / 316 → Stainless steels.
• ENi-CI → Cast iron repair.
